INTERVIEW
Who are you? Where in the world do you live?
My name is Daniel Housley and I’m a photographer born and raised in North West London.
What was the first camera you picked up?
My first ever camera was my mum’s old Olympus OM-10 and I still own and use it!
Tell us a little more about the picture that you submitted for Lofi. Does it have a name?
The photo is called ‘Indigo’. It was taken early one morning just before the sun was about to rise. My friends and I had all been up for nearly 24 hours at this point so we were very much sleep deprived. However, as the sky began to grow light, the bright red from the crane’s aircraft warning light created a beautiful ray of colours.
Most memorable place visited as a photographer?
The rooftops of Hong Kong! Hong Kong will always hold a special place in my heart and exploring the rooftops gave me a different insight into the city.
One place you’d like to visit as a photographer?
Hawaii – the idyllic landscapes and natural beauty is something that I am fairly unfamiliar with but would love to explore and capture.
What’s next in the pipeline?
I’m currently really invested in fashion photography, particularly how photoshoots can examine identity, such as culture and sexuality, to question current perspectives.
Where in London would you like to see your work? (I will see if I can get near it!)
Wherever you think is best! I trust you
Hashtag you most overuse?
#explore
Have you (or do you intend to) create a book on your photography?
I’ve never created a book on my photography and would love to in the future but for now I’m just exploring different styles and enjoying trying out new techniques.
